BUILDING MATERIAL

(An alloy of copper an tin) is poured at metting point into a mould by an artist founder.

For the work to be considered as original, the number of copies allowed by law is limited to eight numbered editions   and two artist's proofs.

Bronze (brass) has been worked by man since time unmemorial, fashioned into jewellery for embellishing, weapons for hunting and fighting, sculpture for perpetauting creativity, it becomes worn, oxidised, irridscent, speckled, acquises a patina...comes to life...

(A metamorphous rock is fashioned by newing directly into the block, by means of a mallet and tungsten carbide chisels.

It is a very "physical" and at the same time very delicate type of sculpture, because one must strike hard to cut into the stone, and depending on the quality of the marble ( the veining, grain knots)   these can be fatal breakage. Then to bring out a round boss, or a detail of a nose one must persuade them into shape by strokin, polishing caressing gestures.

Marble is the undying material where the eternity of geologial time breaks through.

If one wants to live close to an artist's pulsion, one cannot simply seize the vision of the work and the technicity of this exection, it is also essential to feel the tactile emotion of the bare skin on cold, smotth, polished, sensual stone....
